Very smart, but a bit complicated. How about a special switch in the settings: “Forget everything”. It would make your Wire client present itself to the server as a completely new device and it would also return a generated password for you to write down somewhere safe and with this password you can later make your Wire client “remember again” its history.

Complex — yes, agree. From what’s known about the process at some of the border controls where the topic (search through people’s devices) is an issue then officials may use specialized software to grab all available data from the device.
